It's a good jam, and the end is like comedic gold. "and make a veeedeo tew… and call it coffee & snow bart dew!"
Brandon Grahamus, for whom this larger than life LJ entry is dedicated to, participated in a MEME (i guess it is now?) that Paul Pope started. Pope drew a Moebius drawing, and then B drew it again. I'll just plug Pope's and Brandon's and then mine OK?
Ya I went a bit OUT on mine. Whatevvvz. Yeah, I drew Lady Gaga (or for DONJINSHI purposes-- my interpretations of her are known as "LADY XAXA"). I variated my version of the nipple tweak, too. Mine's more of a PINCH! OO
If you want better history behind this "MEME", check out Brandon's LJ, naturally.
Speaking of POPE, I did a THB fanart recently.
I was out when I drew it and hankering to color it-- lacking a scanner, i took a lo-res shot of it with my laptop's built in camera, then colored it. I like the effect it gave.
Here's a shot of my Creative Nook as the MOEBPOPEBRAHAMGIRL drawing was being made:
*I forgot to tag the bag of "CUTIES" clementine oranges on my desk
I just put up some posters tonight. Yes, those are Katy Perry's tits clearly visible. I'm missing an awesome EMILY THE STRANGE poster I LOVE (for which I bought an entire ETS graphic novel from Half Price books for). My other wall is covered in torn-out Naruto pages, less tits. It's the Sakura / Chiyo-baa fight-- nothing like a young girl and an old lady battling a crazy puppet master.
One of my favorite arcs from Naruto. Definitely Sakura's shining moment. Very creative battle. Sasori was a wicked enemy.
Was also reading some new BERSERK recently. In one of the new chapters, Sheirke wears this rad makeup that kinda makes her resemble AVES IVES…
Crazy galleon ship thing with cute zombie witch pirate gal:
Ya that's just how Berserk rolls...
Berserk never ceases to amaze me. He's created such a tone of infinite possibility. I once discussed the idea of infinite possibility with a friend, Lars Brown (North-World). We decided eventually that infinite possibility is ultimately very alluring, but difficult to wield. I think it's a personal setback of mine-- but also a source of hope, thinking about endless possibility :o
Here's a drawing by ZID-- Me and this dude have been TIGHT since early FAN ART / IMPROMANGA dayz.
Here's a good one of Natalie Portman wearing some of his designs on clothes... (or is she?!? zid's such a tricky little devil...)
Check out more of his work on his LJ or site http://jiddo.livejournal.com/ - http://mohammadyazid.com/
I posted this DUDE a few days ago for friends, making bold statements about what it could be-- but I've changed my battle plan, and this is something I think I might do as 1-page "SLIDER" comix eventually...
Pretty into gold characters lately.
On the right is a preview pageeee-- on the left is a pretty old drawing. Dating back to about the ancient time for whench this book was started (07?!). But lately I am at (FINAL FAZE: TONING) applying layers to the tones that Dan Ciurczak already started. This is for real last-step shit but I don't wanna talk about it too much. That book is coming soon.
Here's a commission for a friend:
Has anyone been watching the new season of SOUTH PARK? I came to love this character:
Of the SOUTH PARK SUPER HEROES in the new trilogy episode ("COON & FRIENDS"), MINTBERRY CRUNCH is the misunderstood, completely random one. Obv I'd totally love and relate to him. He ends up being a crucial character, too, with an insane backstory. Honestly it kinda reminded me of Dragon Ball Z or something. Kakarott, the Sayin's are coming for you... My only lament is that I couldn't be this dude for Halloween.
Sorry, no LJ cut. Mebbe next time.
